He invited me earlier to “get on the train” and so far “Kyle the Conductor” has been right on track.
With wins over Ballard and Murray, the team is 2-0 against Kentucky teams, and with a 9-0 shellacking of Harrisburg last Thursday, the team is looking pretty salty.
The 7-0 win over Ballard Sept. 5 featured four goals by Dalton Mitchell to go with a pair from Reinwald and a single goal from Alex King.
The 4-2 “statement” win over Murray on Sept. 9had balanced scoring with Hayes Lawson netting two goals and Mitchell and Noah Farmer each scoring as well.
The 9-0 rout of Harrisburg on Thursday was the King show with the state’s high jump champ booting five goals.
Saturday saw the Patriots entertain the Aces from Mt. Carmel in a home game. The kids weren’t particularly good hosts as they put an 8-0 whipping on the visitors.
King and Mitchell again led the way with a pair of goals each and got help from a quartet of other players. Matt Fasnacht, Lawson, Ryan Schroeder and Tanner Weatherbee also scored for the Pats. The defense for Massac was such that goal keeper Caleb Parker only had one save and may have dozed off on a few occasions.
This week began with the Pats at home against St. Mary on Monday and squaring off against a good Anna-Jonesboro team on Tuesday. Mayfield will round out this week’s action on Thursday.
At 4-0 for the season, things are looking good for MCHS soccer.
