Marjorie “Margie” Grounds Davis, 85, of Harrisburg, passed away at 9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9, 2011 at Superior Care Nursing Home in Paducah, surrounded by her family.
Margie was born Oct. 30, 1925 to Edgar and Bessie Grimes. She married Charles Leslie Grounds of Harrisburg. He preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1967.
Margie was a cafeteria cook at Brookport School for many years and was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Harrisburg at the time of her death.
Survivors include one daughter, Carla Souders and husband Mike of Metropolis; one son, Greg Grounds and wife Debra of Golconda; four grandchildren, Leslie Lawson and husband Tim and Ashley Thompson and husband Glen, all of Metropolis, Chris Grounds of Paducah and Stephanie Matthews and husband John of Melber, Ky.; eight great-grandchildren, Hayes, Graham and Millie Lawson, Anna and Audrey Thompson and Josh, Sara and Will Matthews; one sister, Wilma Joiner of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her second husband, Roger Davis of Harrisburg; one brother; and two sisters.
Funeral service honoring her life was held Tuesday at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Burial followed at Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado.
