Mary J. Henry, 76, of Metropolis, passed away at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral service will be held at noon Friday at Cherry Street Pentecostal Church in Metropolis with Rev. Russell Gilbert officiating.

Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Roger Logeman, Todd Shreves, Doug Ashby, Shawn Ashby, Timothy Logeman and Greg Henry.

Mary worked at and retired from Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation. She also worked at Massac Memorial Hospital and was a volunteer with Dorcas Quilters at Lutheran Church of the Cross.

Mary was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include three daughters, Patty Ashby and husband Doug, Carla Shreves and husband Todd and Connie Logeman and husband Roger, all of Metropolis; seven grandchildren, Shawn Ashby, Melissa Fowler, Amy Anderson, Andrew Shreves, Timothy Logeman, Kristy Burnham and Christopher Logeman; eight great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Dakota Fowler, Charlotte, Nathan and Jayden Anderson, McKinsey Logeman and David and Emily Burnham; one sister, Ella Mae Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Inis Ropiak; her husband of over 53 years, Kenneth; and one grandson, Michael Shreves.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church.

Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home of Metropolis is in charge of the arrangements.
