Mrs. McHaney was a member of First Baptist Church in Metropolis and served as their secretary from 1971 to 1984.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Modglin and husband Jim of Metropolis; one son, Phil McHaney and wife Lana of Metropolis; six grandchildren, Kent McHaney and wife Christine of Joppa, Jim Modglin II and wife Katie of St. Charles, Mo. and Deidra Borum and husband Robin, Phillip McHaney II and wife Bethany, Danny McHaney and Angela Thrasher, all of Metropolis; 11 great-grandchildren, Emily Borum, Timmy Johnson, Hope McHaney and Damon McHaney, all of Metropolis, Matt McHaney and Alisha McHaney of Joppa, Josh McHaney of Murray, Ky., Nate McHaney of Benton Ky. and Hannah Modglin, Charlotte Modglin and Kaylee Modglin, all of St. Charles.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Charles W. McHaney; her parents, Phillip and Ethel Skelton Hart; and one infant brother, Phillip Charles Hart.
Funeral service was held Saturday at First Baptist Church in Metropolis with Rev. Joe Buchanan and Rev. David Wright officiating. Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
