Max Blasdel, 84, of Grand Chain, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Blasdel was a member of the Ohio Chapel Church in Grand Chain. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 660, and he was a first mate for Valley Line Tow Boat Co.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Louise Mathis Blasdel; two daughters, Donna Gail Holhubner and husband Ed of Sedalia, Mo. and Kathy Jo Ryan of Grand Chain; two grandsons, Chris and Lucas Holhubner; one granddaughter, Betsy Ryan; two great-grandsons, Tommy and Jonas Holhubner; one great-granddaughter, Lindsey Holhubner; one brother, Ray Blasdel of Reidland, Ky.; and one sister, Lois Wood of Metropolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mabel Badgley Blasdel.

Masonic rites were conducted Jan. 1. Funeral service was held Jan. 2 at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Heisner officiating. Burial followed at Ohio Chapel Cemetery in Grand Chain.
