Michael Gene Reames, 70, of Metropolis, died Monday, June 11, 2012.

Mr. Reames was a graduate of Vienna High School. He was a member of the National Guard and a 40-year member of the Masonic Lodge 91.

Mr. Reames was an employee of Honeywell for 35 years and the owner of the family-run business Michael’s Equipment Co. in Metropolis for 19 years.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Becky Reames; two sons, Todd Reames and wife Jamie and Lynn Reames and wife Stacey, all of Metropolis; five grandchildren, Maggie Browning, Becca Reames, Abby Reames, Emily Reames and Alex Reames, all of Metropolis; and one cousin, Bill Gourley and wife Ruth, and his children, David Gourley and his wife Buffy and children and Kelly Bormefeld and husband Phillip and children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Margaret Reames.

Funeral service was held Thursday at First Baptist Church in Metropolis with Rev. Louis Brinker officiating.

Burial followed at the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were David Meng, Donnie Parr, Don McIntosh, Steve Middleton, Clint Middleton and Lowell Logeman. Honorary pallbearer was James Trammell.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Metropolis.

Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home of Metropolis was in charge of arrangements.
