This is my kind of weather. Hopefully it will stay that way for a long while. I think everyone is ready for some fall weather.
I hope everyone has enjoyed their long holiday weekend. I’m sure there were plenty of get together of family and friends.
Bill Oliver celebrated his 84th birthday at Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with birthday cake and ice cream.
His son, David, and wife, Beverly, were in from Ohio.
He received several cards and had more to stop by and wish him a happy birthday. He really appreciated the cards and visits. He still is in very much need of our thoughts and prayers.
Happy birthday wishes are also sent to Tim and Bill Oliver, Chuck and Betty Travis, and Billy Travis.
Thanks go to Sue Quint for bringing our special music Sunday morning. Everyone enjoyed hearing her sing.
You need to mark your calendars because the Baptist Children’s Home at Carmi is having the annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
There will also be numerous silent auction items to bid on, and the quilt auction will start at 1 p.m. They have some very nice quilts.
Everyone is encouraged to attend as there will be numerous booths with activities for the kids as well as adults. Complimentary lunch is served.
On Saturday, Oct. 8 , the annual community-wide yard sale will be held. The sales will run from New Columbia to Samoth and around the area.
Those that came out last year know we have several people having sales and plenty of items for everyone.
You never know what ‘treasure’ you might find.
The New Hope-New Columbia ACS Relay for Life team will be having their sale this year inside in New Hope Baptist Church’s Family Life Center, located across from the church.
You won’t have to worry about it raining on you, and we have tons of items. You name it, we’ve got it. We will also be having refreshments, so you won’t go hungry.
News is a little short this week. I hope you have a great week.
