Ho hum, Massac County’s golf teams continued their winning ways last week with the girls and the boys both notching a pair of wins.

The girls were in action last Tuesday at Lake of Egypt Country Club in a three way meet with Marion and West Frankfort, and the Wildcats and Redbirds put up little resistance. Massac cruised to the win with a tidy score of 156. Sami Weber led the way with a 38 while Kirsten Faulkner and Peyton Helm both carded 39s. Paige Ellerbusch came in at 40 to complete the 156. Brittany Reynolds, playing as an individual, shot a fine 38 for Massac as well. Ali Eickholz and Addie Gray came in at 42 and 43 respectively.

Thursday saw the girls in action at Herrin’s Pine Lake course, and the girls dispatched of Herrin handily in their first conference match. Eickholz led the way this time for the girls with a nice 36. Faulkner and Ellerbusch both shot 39s, and Reynolds continued her good play with a 41. The four ball score of 155 was good enough for a 20 stroke win over the host Tigers. Massac’s other scorers were Weber with a 44 and Helm with a 46.

The girls are in action this week on Wednesday at Anna and Thursday at Carbondale’s Hickory Ridge Golf Course before hosting the co-ed Patriot Invitational at Metropolis Country Club on Saturday.

Massac’s boys were equally successful as they whipped Benton and Pinckneyville in a triangle meet at Benton. Massac’s 144 was good enough for a 16 stroke win over Benton, 160, and a 41 stroke margin over the Panthers.
