A one and four record at the end of tourney wasn’t exactly expected either. The subpar offensive effort, especially the second half, against Marion was followed by another weak offensive showing against Mt. Vernon in a 52-41 loss to the Rams.
Mt. Vernon’s Tyril Trimble had a lot to do with the loss when he went on a three point tear late in the first quarter. Massac trailed 5-4 when Trimble took off. Trimble canned four triples in about a three minute span, and the one point lead exploded to 19-4 and Massac was basically toast.
Massac had one more decent chance late in the third quarter when Malcom Amos converted an old fashioned three point play and then drained a triple of his own to cut the lead to eight at 36-28 with the ball in Massac’s possession.
