With a 75-39 win over West Frankfort and a 69-57 loss to St. Joseph-Ogden, Massac County’s Patriots continue their solid play.

Friday night, the boys struggled with West Frankfort’s much-improved Redbirds for one quarter before putting the pedal to the metal and pulling away with a 36-point win.

After watching some painful games with West Frankfort for the last couple of years, the current Redbird team made the night more enjoyable, at least for a while.

Massac connection Christian Dunning, a sophomore, led the ‘Birds with eight points in the loss.

Massac fell behind from the tip and trailed for the first 7 minutes of action before a Kevin Welch field goal gave the Pats their first lead with 48 seconds left in the quarter. Massac led 18-15 at the first horn.
