Standing within 50 feet of the Bulldog team as they went through their pre-game routine, it sunk in just how average-sized Henshaw looked on the field with his mates. I said all that to say this.
Massac County was a smaller, weaker team on the field Friday night, and that’s where the rubber meets the road in prep football. The Bulldogs were able to hold the Patriots at bay until late in the fourth quarter, and their offense exploded early and often on big yardage plays.
Massac recovered an on-side kick on the first play of the game, but on their first play from scrimmage, Logan Hartley picked off Cameron Koch’s errant throw and it was all downhill from there.
