Paul Manley, 79, of Metropolis, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2011 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

Mr. Manley was a member of Karnak United Methodist Church. He was retired from the Caterpillar plant in Joliet, where he had been a machine operator.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Betty Canada Manley; two sons, Terry Manley and wife Kay of Big Bay and Steve Manley and wife Lorna of Paducah; three daughters, Paula Shelton and husband Rick of Manteno, Carol Hartman and husband Allen of Bradley and Kelly Clawson and husband Danny of Hutto, Texas; five sisters, Mary Woods of Vienna, Ruth Anderson of Moline, Katherine Rider of Dongola, Betty Bayless and husband Louis of Grand Chain and Margaret Farris and husband Carroll of New Lenox; one brother, Jim Manley and wife Elaine of Grantsburg; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Letha Burnham Manley; one son, Jay Manley; one great-granddaughter, Ansley Myers; one sister, Annabell Becka; and one brother, Raymond Manley.

Funeral service was held Monday at Karnak United Methodist Church with Rev. Alan Milligan and Rev. Steve Heisner officiating. Music was provided by Steve Heisner and Sharon Wilson. Burial followed at Belknap Masonic Cemetery.
