Peggy A. Sawyer, 85, of Metropolis, passed away Monday, April 30, 2012 at her home.

Mrs. Sawyer is the daughter of Thomas Olen and Sula Brown Cromeenes. She was born June 11, 1926 in Champaign and was raised in the Carbondale area. She married George F. Sawyer of Moro and to this union, three children were born: Mike Sawyer and wife Marianne of Bennington, Vt., Tonya Sawyer of Metropolis and Todd Sawyer and wife Michelle of Davenport, Fla.

She was a member of the Metropolis First Methodist Church and the F.O.E. 145 of Pueblo, Colo.

Other survivors include grandchildren, Heather and Leslie; great-grandson, Kolby; her stepgrandchildren, Wendy and Jamie and Joey and Josh; several stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Balsters of Glen Carbon and Babs Vandoren of Bethalto; special great-niece, Morgan, and great-nephew, Chase, both of Glen Carbon; along with other nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Sawyer; and one brother, Bob Cromeenes. She was the granddaughter of Tom and Rose Cromeenes of Metropolis; and niece of Reed, Paul and Frances Cromeenes.

Graveside and burial service will be announced at a later date.
