Massac County’s Lady Patriots softball team played to an almost unimaginable level this year with 31-1-1, and the girls are beginning to reap the rewards for such play.

The Illinois Coaches Association’s (ICA) All State Team was announced last week, and Massac County placed five girls on the honor roll.

Massac’s five honorees were the most for any one school. Undefeated state champ Kankakee MacNamara placed two girls on the first team.

From this end of the state, Nashville’s Shaye Harre and Maci Ingram made the first team while teammate Nicole Deering was named to the second team. Kiley Pelker made the third team.

Carterville placed three girls on the team with Kylee Rock drawing first team honors. Avery English and Amy Drust received third team honors.

Johnston City placed two girls — Allison Smiley on first team and Jessa Thomas on third team — on the team.

DuQuoin’s Cassidy Rice and Alexis Kohrs were also honored with Rice making the first team. Kelsey Rodgers from Carmi made the second team.

From Massac County, Kaylee Childers made the first team with teammates Jessie Douglas and Jordyn Smith being named to the second team. Gracyn McBride and Jessie Lamb were named to the third team.
