Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak with Rev. Allan Milligan officiating.
Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Dongola,
Mr. Oakes served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl Davis of Montgomery; two sons, Ronald D. Oakes of Denver, Colo. and Robert D. Oakes of Stevensville, Mont.; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Oakes; and three sisters.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
