Roger T. Williams, 71, of Paducah, formerly of Peoria and Metropolis, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Paducah.

Born Oct. 20, 1942 in Metropolis, Mr. Williams graduated from Edwards County High School.

He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and was post commander of the VFW Peter W. Sommer Post 814 of Peoria for two terms.

Mr. Williams worked at Komatsu Industries in Peoria for 30 years and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Peoria.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Lucille Zoephel Williams; two daughters, Jacqueline Merriman of Raeford, N.C. and Nancy Freeman and husband Don of Rowlett, Texas; four grandchildren. Nathan Freeman, Gabriele Grace Freeman, Kandas Merriman and Hannah Merriam; one brother, Dick L. Williams and wife Jane of Peoria; and four sisters, Nancy Tassos of Winter Park, Fla., Bettye Anderson and husband Earl of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Jane Johnson and husband Bernard of Old Saybrook, Conn. and Virginia Boelhouwer and husband Douglas of Dillsburg, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lankston and Eugenia Williams.

Cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no services.
