Roy R. Loverkamp, 70, of Metropolis passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

Roy was born on May 4, 1942 to Raymond and Marie Maedeker Loverkamp. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Roy was owner and operator of Roy’s Body Shop for over 40 years.

He was very active in his community, supporting several different Khoury League teams.

He was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Massac County.

Roy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rosalee; one daughter, Rhonda Joyce Helmburg and husband Paul of Lexington, Ky.; three grandchildren, Megan, Jenna and Zachary Helmburg; his brothers- and sisters-in-laws, Jerry Lange and wife Betty, Don Lange and wife Dixie and Janice Wiseman and husband Kenny; several nieces and nephews; special cousins, Lois Mienders and Diane Perry; and a host of friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Ann Loverkamp; and one brother-in-law, Leroy Lange.

Funeral service was held Sunday, June 3 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church with Rev. David Deem and Rev. Tom Emmerson officiating.

Burial followed in the church’s cemetery. Pallbearers were Blair Armstrong, Jared Armstrong, Eric Lewis, Jeff Lange, Steve Fletcher and Fred Reed.

Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home of Metropolis was in charge of arrangements.
