Run for a Cure event set for Sept. 8 at FMSP

Zion UCC Church in Metropolis is sponsoring the Running for a Cure 5K and 1 mile Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, Sept. 8 at Fort Massac State Park. Registration is from 7-7:30 a.m. The walk starts at 7:50 a.m., and the 5K race starts at 8 a.m.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life fundraiser for cancer research.

The registration fee for 5K participants is $20, which includes a race T-shirt.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female participants in six different age categories, and the top three male and female runners overall.

The registration fee for those participating in the one mile walk is $10 per person, which does not include a T-shirt. Walkers can purchase a T-shirt for an additional $10.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female walkers.
