Mrs. Stokes was a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God and Mission American Placement Service with Assemblies of God.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, William H. “Bill” Stokes of Metropolis; two sons, William Keith Stokes and wife Donna of Metropolis and Rev. Allan Stokes Sr. and wife Joy of Madisonville, Ky.; five grandchildren, Allan Dale Stokes Jr. and wife Samantha and Sarah Jayne Roland and husband Daniel, all of Madisonville, Andrew Thomas Stokes and wife Jaymi of Jacksonville, Fla. and Faith Stokes and Jeremy Stokes, both of Metropolis; six great-grandchildren, Allan Dale Stokes III, Logan Hunter Stokes, Emily Jane Stokes and Joshua Lee Sivils, all of Madisonville, and Aly Laine Stokes and Malachi Andrew Stokes, both of Jacksonville; three sisters, Sharon Wheatley and husband Tom of Soddy Daisy, Tenn. and Patricia Hertter and husband G.H. and Katie Wedeking and husband J. Paul, all of Metropolis; two brothers, Dale Sutton and wife Betty of Paducah and Ronna Sutton and wife Debbie of Danville; several nieces and nephews; and one brother-in-law, Ronnie Stokes and wife Levon of Mayfield, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Opal Helmantoler Sutton; one son, David Brian Stokes; and one sister, Lovella May Sutton.
Funeral service was held Saturday at Lighthouse Assembly of God in Metropolis with Rev. Don Labrot, Rev. Larry Lunsford and Rev. Allan Stokes Sr. officiating. Music was provided by Pat Shelby and Faith Stokes.
Burial followed at IOOF Cemetery in Metropolis.
Pallbearers were Allan Stokes Jr., Andrew Stokes, Daniel Roland, Tim Henderson, Jeremy Stokes and David Godfrey.
