The Joppa girls’ junior high softball team, who were recently named as regional champions, were recognized at the Sept. 26 Joppa-Maple Grove school board meeting.

The team and their parents were recognized by the board for their outstanding accomplishment as they advanced into the opening round of the state tournament.

The budget hearing for fiscal year 2012 occurred immediately prior to the regular meeting. Superintendent Steve Ptacek provided the only testimony comparing the tentative budget that the board received in August with the budget to be approved in September.
