Sylvia Verlee Suttles, 77, of Brookport, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

Born Nov. 5, 1934 in Brookport, Mrs. Suttles was an active member of First Baptist Church in Brookport and retired from the Massac County Treasurer’s Office.

Survivors include two sons, Tracy Suttles and Boyd Suttles and wife Tricia, all of Metropolis; three grandchildren, Elly Nelson and husband Paul of Brookport, Ben Suttles and wife Alana of Taylorsville, Ky. and Wesley Suttles of Metropolis; and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Abby Nelson of Brookport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Cearl Winford Wallace; her husband, Howard Suttles; two brothers, Thurman and L. G. Wallace; one daughter-in-law, Donna Suttles; and one granddaughter, Kaitlinn Sophie Suttles.

Funeral service was held Thursday at Brookport First Baptist Church with Rev. David Siere officiating.

Burial followed at Pell Cemetery in Brookport. Pallbearers were Ben Suttles, Wesley Suttles, Paul Nelson, Terry Bunting, Mike Helton and Scott Vowell. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Gower, Otis Hutchison, Linn Smith and Bob Suttles.

Memorials may be made to the Brookport First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home of Metropolis was in charge of arrangements.
