Hartley, of Eddyville, has recently been named CEO of MMH. He most recently was vice president of outreach and business development at Harrisburg Medical Center, where he was responsible for the start up of new clinics, including the Harrisburg Wal-Mart and a clinic at a nearby coal mine.
Prior to that, Hartley was CEO of Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado and has served as CEO in several other rural hospitals.
The public is invited to a Meet and Greet event in Hartley’s honor from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday in the MMH main lobby, sponsored by the Metropolis Chamber of Commerce. Refreshments will be provided.
Hartley is no stranger to Massac County. Born in Kankakee, Hartley and his family moved to a farm in eastern Massac County when he was 6-months old. He attended Unity Elementary School through third grade. His grandparents were the late Claude and Katie Rixie, who resided in Pope County; and he also had a great-uncle who lived in Massac County, the late Orville Rixie.
After returning back to Kankakee, he graduated from high school and received his bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in business administration from Governor’s State University, outside of Chicago.
