Mr. Bruce was a veteran of the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War.
Survivors include one sister, Brenda Latham; one brother Gary Bruce; five children, Wayne Allen Bruce Jr. and wife Licia of Joppa, Michael Wayne Bruce and wife Lori of Metropolis, Tiffany Dawn Bruce Woolverton and husband Dakota of Joppa, Dwayne Edward Bruce of Chester and Jamie Lee Serles and husband Mike Kanady of McLeansboro.
Wayne is survived by 18 grandchildren, Joshua Wrye of Metropolis and Jacob, Jordan, Jasmaine and Marcus Bruce of Joppa, children to Wayne and Licia Bruce; Kirsten and Keegan Bruce of Metropolis, children to Mike and Lori Bruce; Anthoney Ford and Christian and Aubrey Dassing, all of Metropolis, and Lindsey Bruce and Keegan, Kyleigh and Kealynn Woolverton, all of Joppa, children to Tiffany and Dakota Woolverton; and Sean Graham, Peyton Mattingley, Jaylee Boston and Mason Boston, all of McLeansboro, children of Jamie Serles and Mike Kanady.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Freeman and Marybelle Scott Bruce; his wife Pamela Brown Bruce; three sisters, Mary Francis Bruce, Wilma Latham and Phyllis Marie Bruce; one brother, William Bruce; one nephew, Jason Bruce; and one granddaughter, Skyla Allen.
Funeral service was held Monday at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Brenda Hall officiating.
Burial followed at IOOF Cemetery in Metropolis. Pallbearers were Mr. Bruce’s son-in-law, Dakota Woolverton; nephews, Joe Bruce and Dakota Bruce; brother, Allen Patterson; grandson, Jordan Bruce; and family friend, Matt Holt.
