Wyman Leslie O’Brien, 58, of Brookport, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday at Brookport Funeral Home with Scott Darnell officiating, and Masonic Rites will follow.

Mr. O’Brien, born April 26, 1956, was of the Christian faith.

He was a 1974 graduate of Brookport High School and was employed by the City of Brookport as a water supervisor for 31 years.

Wyman was a 26-year Mason of Bay City Lodge 771, formerly Farmers Lodge 232, where he was a four-time Post Master.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a lover of NASCAR and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Wyman lived his life to the fullest and will be missed by all.

Wyman is survived by his mother, Kay Hurst of Brookport; one sister, Jimmilynn Travis and husband Jim of Metropolis; two nephews, Cory Calhoun of Marshall County, Ky. and Levi Travis of Lone Oak; three aunts, Carolyn Worthington of Lone Oak, Joyce Brayant of Pekin and Mary Russell of Long Beach, Calif.; 1 great-aunt, Alma Lou Souders of Brookport; his companion, Rita McCoy of Metropolis; her grandson and granddaughter, who Wyman thought of as his own children, Westley McCoy and Heidi Schierbaum and husband Daniel; and her great-grandchildren, Alex and Evelyn of Metropolis; and many cousins and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Hurst.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the funeral hour Friday at the funeral home.
