Youth teams holding sign-ups through Saturday

For children interested in sports, two opportunities are underway to become involved.

Massac County Youth Sports Association is hosting a sign-up from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday at the Metropolis Community Center, located at 900 W. 10th St.

Children can sign up for T-ball, baseball or softball.

Players from the same team as last year can contact their coach to sign-up.

Umpires are also needed.

The Massac Youth Soccer League (MYSL) is holding a last-chance registration through Saturday for its upcoming spring soccer season.

The recreational league is open to any boy or girl who is 3 to 15. The child must be age 3 or older as of Aug. 1, 2012.

MYSL also accepts players from outside of Massac County.

Practices are planned to begin the week of March 18 with the games scheduled from April 12 through May 18.

Team practices are conducted in Metropolis, while the games are split between Friday night dates in Metropolis and Saturday morning “away” games at the McCracken County Soccer Complex.
