Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Immanuel Baptist Church in Metropolis with Rev. Glenn Coram and Chaplain Frank Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at IOOF Cemetery in Metropolis. Pallbearers will be Stephen Benard, Kyle Blagg, Ronnie Henson, Brian Rodgers, Trenton Rodgers-Norment, Adam Robinson and Todd Hatton.
Mrs. Wells was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Metropolis and retired as a LPN.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Blagg and husband Joe of Reidland; two sons, John Wells Jr. and wife Lesia and Carl Wells and wife Patricia, all of Paducah; six grandchildren, Amy Henson of Metropolis, Laura Aello of San Diego, Calif., Angela Hatton of Murray, Ky. and Tamara Arnett, Stephanie Kara Robinson and Kyle Blagg, all of Paducah; five great-grandchildren, Jasmine Robinson of Paducah and Nico Aello, Mateo Aello, Cristian Aello and Lucas Aello, all of San Diego; four brothers, Coy Carrell, Donald Carrell, George Carrell and Wayne Carrell, all of Paducah; one adopted sister, Betty Jean Briskey of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Coy Ellis and Lottie Jane Sutton Carrell; her husband, John Phillip Wells Sr.; one great-grandchild, Samantha Arnett; three sisters, Betty Ruth Carrell, Carolyn Fort and Geneva Thompson; and one brother, Clarence Carrell.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 17 from 6-8 p.m. at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church.
