Helen M. Ledsinger, 84, of Metropolis, was called to her rest by God while a patient at Massac Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2 at the Masonic Cemetery in Metropolis with Antoine Hutcheson officiating.

Helen M. Ledsinger was born on Dec. 14, 1926 to Libbie E. Adams and Herschel Evans. She was a member of St. Paul AME Church in Metropolis, where she served as church secretary, steward and pianist.

Survivors include one daughter, Jerri T. Browne of Metropolis; two grandsons, Robert G. Taylor of Metropolis and Monty E. Browne and wife Erica of Dallas, Texas; one great-grandson, Adrian Browne of Dallas; two nephews, Donald Ray Evans Sr. and Robert Lavern Morris Sr., both of Metropolis; and a number of family, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel B. Evans Sr. and Libbie E. Adams Evans; her husband, Elihue Ledsinger; one sister, Opal E. Morris; and one brother, R.C. Evans.

There will not be any visitation or funeral. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.

Helen’s family wishes to thank everyone for their kindness through her illness and would like to say God bless each and every one of you.
