Frances Helen Kossow, 85, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011 at Pleasant View.

Frances was born Sept. 11, 1925 in Peru, Ill., daughter of Casimir and Julia Oftinowski Liss.

She married Frank Arthur Kossow at St. Valentine Church in Peru. He preceded her in death July 26, 1970.

Frances was a member of St. Francis Church in Ottawa. She worked as a clerk at Walgreens Pharmacy for 10 years and also worked as a volunteer at Re-Runs for St. Columbia Church.

Frances was an avid advocate for animal rights. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and many friends.

Survivors include her children, Kayla Kossow Page and husband James of Omaha, Neb. and Keith Frank Kossow and wife Donna of Metropolis; one grandson, James A. Page II and wife Lauren of Paducah; one nephew, Kent Athey of Peru; one niece, Jewel Ann Kohr and husband Larry of LaSalle; and a special friend, Liz Graham of Ottawa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Daniel Allen Kossow; and one sister, Eleanor Athey.

Funeral service honoring her life was held Thursday at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Interment followed at St. Valentine Cemetery in Spring Valley.
