Mr. Walter was born Nov. 6, 1927 in Bay City to Orvin Lee and Helen Faulkner Walter, who preceded him in death, and worked for 27 years for the ICG Railroads in Paducah.
He was very much the outdoorsman, being a lifelong hunter, trapper and fisherman.
Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Cervantes and husband Clarence of Kevil, Ky. and Glenda Durbin of Ramsey; one son, Lawson “Leo” Walter and wife Renee of Metropolis; one special friend, Donna Mann of Hamletsburg; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six sisters; Dorothy Wiley of Bourbonnais, Linda Jeffords of New Liberty, Betty Wiley of Metropolis, Shirley Tucker of Florida, Eulene Eubanks of Springfield, Mo. and Brenda Blanchard of Houma, La.; one brother, Billy Joe Walter of Harvard; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Eugene Walter, Orvin Lee Walter Jr., Ronnie Walter and James Walter, who died in infancy; and one sister, Elaine Brown.
Funeral service was held Tuesday at Brookport Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Wayne Harris officiating.
Burial followed at Azotus Cemetery in Pope County. Pallbearers were Franklin Walters, Darrell Walter, Kurt Scott, Brian Warford, Danny Faulkner and Dalton Rorer.
