Legion Post to host Honors Day program

The members of Villa Ridge’s American Legion Post 178 will host its Post Honors Day program on Saturday. The post is located two miles east of Villa Ridge on the Villa Ridge-Olmsted Road. Veterans and community members that have contributed to veteran programs will be honored for their diligent labor over the past year with various American Legion awards.

Starting at 5 p.m., there will be a special recognition of the members of the honor guard for their work at the Mound City National Cemetery as well as other veteran burials and details.

The 34 members of the ritual team will be presented with winter coats. The ritual team is made up of area veterans from area counties.

The potluck dinner will start at 6 p.m. and post honor awards will begin at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend as well as all veteran organizations.
