That scrutiny over the sheriff's department bills came after Monday night's Metropolis City Council meeting, where the aldermen approved a budget that has cut the $18,600 that was going to the county each month.
Holder and Konemann both pointed out one food bill is close to $20,000. Holder explained that the bill for the hotel where the deputy stayed for training at the police academy needs to be paid, as the county has already received reimbursement for the training.
