Phillip Vincent DeMarco, 43, of Metropolis, passed away Saturday, Oct. 2, 2011.

Phillip served 10 years in the United States Air Force, where he achieved the rank of sergeant and was an F-16 dedicated crew chief. He served during Desert Storm. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Southeast Asia Service Medal, Overseas short tour ribbon, along with service award medals and small arms marksmanship.

He was a chief engineer for Ingram Barge Co. He was also a beloved son, brother and proud father of his two daughters

Survivors include his two daughters, Vanessa Angeline DeMarco and Victoria Margaurite DeMarco, both of Metropolis; his parents, Vincent and Johnnie DeMarco of Joppa; his paternal grandmother, Angeline DeMarco of Weirton, W.Va.; one brother, Nicholas DeMarco and wife Cindy of Ohio; two half sisters, Betty Lou Knowles and April Robertson; his fiancee, Jeanetta “Lynn” Lee of Metropolis; several aunts, uncles and cousins; one nephew; and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Evelyn Harris; grandfather, Vincent DeMarco; grandparents, John and Mary Knowles; his brother, Matthew Knowles; and his father, Charles Knowles.

Funeral service was held Friday at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Pete Duley and Linda Blankenship speaking. Burial followed at the IOOF Cemetery in Joppa with military graveside rites conducted.
