Massac County’s Lady Patriots played one game last week, routing the Lady Redbirds from West Frankfort 60-21, and in so doing improved their record to 14-5 overall and 6-0 in the SIRR Ohio division. Coach Matt Hampleman’s Lady Redbirds, who lost their best returning player when Jasmine Kromchak opted out of basketball this year, tried to stay close and actually trailed only 10-7 with under two minutes left in the first quarter but an Emily Hoard steal and layup ended the first frame at 12-7 and Frankfort was chasing a ghost the rest of the way.
Kristina Henley came out firing for Massac hitting her first two attempts, both three pointers, and on her third bucket of the first quarter scored the 1000th point of her Lady Patriot career.
