Massac County Sheriff Ted Holder explained how a concerned resident had called and talked to the jail administrator wanting to know how to help the sheriff's department. That person then went to the grocery store and made a payment for the sheriff's department.
Holder also said jail administrator John Konemann wanted to make the board aware the sheriff's department had saved a little over $400 on the department's frozen meals by having trusties in the detention center clip coupons.
Holder brought with him a few bills, noting there were a couple of 90-day bills and a handful of 60-day bills that needed to be paid. Later in the meeting, the commissioners were in agreement the county should pay the 60- and 90-day bills.
Holder also reported there are 45 inmates in the detention center.
