Born July 18, 1934, in Decatur, Mr. Rendfeld attended Decatur High School and graduated from Millikin University. He retired from Caterpillar where he worked for 30 years as a design engineer.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Vicki Williams and husband Larry of Champaign and Pam Davis of Metropolis; one son, Randy Rendfeld and wife Kim of New Castle, Ind.; five grandchildren, Scott Kirby and Amanda Kirby of Metropolis, Erick George of Bloomington, Andrea Krouse of Champaign and Suzanne Thomas and husband Michael of American Fork, Utah; three great-grandchildren, Shawn Thomas of Paris and Caitlin and McKell Thomas of American Fork; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John F. and Mary Grubb Rendfeld; his wife of more than 50 years, Margery Ann Montgomery Rendfeld; one son, Rick Rendfeld; and one brother, Bob Rendfeld.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cason Funeral Services in Foley, Ala., handled cremation.
