As the City of Metropolis continues to work on its TIF (Tax Increment Financing) districts, the city council approved four separate motions regarding the area designated as Interstate North.

The votes came during Monday's Metropolis City Council meeting, shortly after an Industrial Committee meeting with Gene Norber, president of Economic Development Resources (EDR), a community planning consultant.

The council approved the area's TIF and Business District eligibility studies be available for public review. The information can be seen at the City Clerk's Office and the Metropolis Public Library. They will be the topic of discussion during two public hearings tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 29 — with the TIF discussion at 6 p.m. and the Business District at 6:30 p.m. — prior to the council's regular meeting.
