Karen was a faithful member of Lighthouse Assembly of God. She was a dedicated Christian, who set examples of Christian love and how to live for the Lord. Karen was not only dedicated to her church, but she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. She was the one that made sure everyone celebrated special days as a family. Karen worked in the family business up until her health prevented her from it. She always made sure it ran smoothly.
Karen will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but we know that her last day with us was her birthday of eternity.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Jerry Ray Leek; two sons, Richard Leek and companion Rhonda Light and Charles Thomas Leek and wife Nancy, all of Metropolis; her mother, Frieda McCoy of Metropolis; four grandchildren, Kaley Leek, Kensey Leek, Andrew Leek and Rachael Leek; one great-grandchild, Case Wesley Korte; one sister, Judith Lauderdale and husband William of Metropolis; one niece, Michelle Smith and husband Cory of Paducah; and one great-nephew, Zander Blane Smith of Paducah.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elie Thomas McCoy; and her grandparents, Jesse and Fleecie McNichols.
Visitation will be at the church from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home of Metropolis is in charge of arrangements.
