Arrest is made after fatal Joppa stabbing

At approximately 5:35 p.m. Sunday, the Illinois State Police arrested Michael D. Thompkins, of Pulaski, for the offenses of first degree murder and home invasion that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday in Massac County.

Thompkins is accused of entering an apartment in Joppa and causing injury to two occupants, Jackie LaShaun Blake and Jessica R. Horn. Blake died from his injuries. Horn was treated and released at a local hospital.
