Nadine Abell, 98, of Metropolis, formerly of Brookport, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.

Mrs. Abell loved the Lord. She was a member of Brookport First Baptist Church and the Women’s Missionary Union. She taught elementary school in Hampton, Ky. and then at Brookport Elementary School until she retired after 25 years of teaching at age 70.

Mrs. Abell is survived by her children, James Abell and wife Mary Ann of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Jerry Abell and wife Carla of Brookport and Judy Ramage and husband Dr. Thomas Ramage of Roswell, N.M.; her grandchildren, Lisa Gross and husband Chad of Dallas, Texas, Jeffrey Abell of Baltimore, Md., Lorie Walters and husband Jim of Metropolis, Shanna Looney and husband Billy of Brookport, Kyle Ramage and wife Tasia of Roswell, Kevin Ramage and wife Shelley of Cortez, Colo., Kegan Ramage of Roswell and Khory Ramage and wife Kara of Dallas; her great-grandchildren, Regan Gross, Kyler Owens and Kaley Owens; her stepgreat-grandchild, Jimmy Walters; and her great-great-grandchildren, Shaley Looney, Landon Looney, Emily Ramage, Taylor Ramage, Kabell Ramage, Kaela Ramage, Kody Ramage, Kaston Ramage, Kaden Ramage, Kannon Ramage, Kobe Ramage, Kenley Ramage and Kamry Ramage.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Lymon Abell; her parents, Alvie and Emma Bridwell; two sisters, Juanita Binkley and Leota Ramage; one brother, Vernon Bridwell; one granddaughter, Sheri Abell; and one great-granddaughter, Emma Looney.

Funeral service was held Monday at Brookport Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Russell officiating. Music was provided by Lori Walters, pianist; and David Atwell, soloist.

Burial followed at Pell Cemetery in Brookport. Pallbearers were Charlie Binkley, Billy Looney, Kevin Ramage, Khory Ramage, Jeff Abell and Kyler Owens.
