Born in Muddy to Joe and Jesse Leach Girot on March 22, 1920, Maxine enjoyed her time at her home on Kentucky Lake fishing and boating with her family and friends. She loved her church trips to Branson with her beloved husband of 50 years. She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Metropolis since 1952.
Survivors include her children, Gary Penrod and wife Patty of Benton, Ky. and Rebecca Reames and husband Mike and Lance Penrod, all of Metropolis; her grandchildren, Ellen Mahler of Pryorsburg, Ky., Daniel Penrod of Danville, Ky. and Todd Reames, Lynn Reames and Katie Penrod, all of Metropolis; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Woodrow Penrod; one grandson, Chad Penrod; one sister, Marie Disney; and two brothers, Bruce Girot and Richard Girot.
Graveside service was held Tuesday at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with Rev. Louis W. Brinker officiating.
