Lorna M. Clark, 98, of Metropolis, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Clark, lovingly known as “Mudder” by her family and friends, was born in Saskatchewan, Canada and raised in Killarney, Manitoba Canada.

Lorna was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church of Metropolis. She worked as a welder, buildings ships during World War II in Portland, Oregon. She was also employed as a dental technician for over 30 years.

Being an accomplished seamstress, she made and donated premature baby clothes for children’s hospitals and sewed for many other worthy causes.

In addition, she gave piano and organ lessons for many years.

Mudder will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Donald McVicar and wife Mary Kay and James B. McVicar and wife Janet; five stepchildren, Bill Clark and wife Carol, Jim Clark and wife Teri, Annie Brady and husband Steve, Vinny Clark and wife Patty and Ruthie Johnson and husband Steve; eight grandchildren, Mike Wehrmeyer and wife Julie, Dianne Haverkamp and husband J.D., Jan Adams, Jim McVicar and wife Karen, Brian McVicar, Tammy Norlander and husband Jeffery, Todd McVicar and Krista Heisler and husband Nate; 17 great-grandchildren, Matt and Kris Wehrmeyer, Corey Jeffords and wife Amy, Gregg Jeffords and wife Molly, Jamie Jeffords and husband Todd, Nicholas Adams and wife Marcy, Ben Adams, Jordyn and Kathryn McVicar, Cash and Tegan Heisler, Breanne, Lane, Adrien McVicar, Zachery McVicar, Kayla Gospoderk and husband Jeff and Ashley Norlander; 10 great-great-grandchildren; 19 step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mabel Sample; her first husband, James McVicar; her second husband, Vincent Clark; her daughter, Arlie Wehrmeyer; one son-in-law, Gale Wehrmeyer; one daughter-in-law, Katherine McVicar; one stepdaughter, Peggy Clark; and one brother and sister-in-law, Cyril and Jean Sample.

A graveside service was held Friday at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with Father Michael Mujule officiating. There was no visitation.

Pallbearers were Vinny Clark, J.D. Haverkamp, Corey Jeffords, Gregg Jeffords, Nicholas Adams and Ben Adams.

Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis was in charge of arrangements.
