Mike Childers, fire chief of Massac County Fire Protection District, with the authorization of the Board of Trustees, hereby gives NOTICE that OPEN BURNING within the Massac County Fire Protection District is hereby PROHIBITED, effective immediately.

This action is taken by reason of the unreasonable risk of fire, due to the current drought conditions, high temperatures and other weather related circumstances.

By reason of the current fire risk, the resources of the fire department may not be sufficient to control or suppress a fire or fires, which may otherwise result if open burning is not immediately prohibited.

Until such circumstances abate, there shall be NO OPEN BURNING IN THE DISTRICT.

Open burning includes, but is not limited to the burning of landscape waste, agricultural waste, household trash or garbage.
