Mr. Parmer was employed at Honeywell of Metropolis.
He was a member of the USW Local 7-669 and a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God of Metropolis.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Parmer of Metropolis; two sons, Justin Parmer and wife Lisa of Metropolis and Brandon Parmer and fiancée Tracy Stricker of Metropolis; four grandchildren, Jordan, Maci, Alec and Noah Parmer, all of Metropolis; four brothers, Rick Parmer and wife Mary Beth, Mike Parmer and wife Angie, Kelly Parmer and Nathan Parmer, all of Metropolis; one sister, Dorothy Busclas and husband Tom of Brookport; his stepfather, Howard Medley of Metropolis; several nieces, nephews, aunts and one uncle.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Herbert Parmer; his mother, Mary Helen Mizell Medley; one sister, Brenda Worthen; and his grandparents, Clyde and Flora Parmer, Florence Dodson and Pete Mizell.
Funeral service was held Saturday at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Don LaBrot officiating. Music was provided by Mike Clay.
Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Lee Hanson, Stanley Kruger, Justin Parmer, Brandon Parmer, Mike Parmer, Pat Mitchell and Ricky Parmer.
