Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Cache Chapel Methodist Church, east of Ullin, with Rev. Mike Shearer and Pastor Mike Sharp officiating. Interment will follow at Cache Chapel Cemetery, east of Ullin.
Tom was born July 8, 1940 at Ullin, son of the late Keith “Mutt” Walker and Florence Slocum Walker.
Tom was a member of the Cache Chapel Methodist Church. He was a board member of the New Hope Cemetery board and the Cache Chapel Cemetery board, both of Ullin. He was a former school teacher and taught field and field track and basketball.
A retired farmer, Tom was a farm advisor in Himcock County, a member of the Pulaski-Alexander County Farm Bureau, a member of the Coffee Club of Ullin and was an avid fisherman.
He was a member of the class of 1958 at Ullin High School; a graduate of SIU at Carbondale and a retired employee of EEI Power Plant in Joppa.
Tom married the former Peggy Williams on Oct. 24, 1976 at First United Methodist Church in Metropolis.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Walker of Ullin; one daughter, Rhonda Walker-Karl and husband, David Karl of Baldwin, Mo.; 2 sisters, Lois (Don) Dauksch of Bunker Hill, and Ann Johnson of Georgia; grandson, Joshua Walker (Alicia Rueter); great grandson, Andrew Michael Walker; two nieces, Teena Addison and Gay Ellen Stina; 2 nephews, Wade Dauksch and Ricky Johnson; one great-niece, Katie Dauksch; 3 great-nephews, Jason Dauksch and Joshua and Eli Addison; and two cousins, Bobby and Joe Walker.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Keith “Mutt” and Florence Walker; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Walker and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Slocum; and one son, Michael J. Walker on Nov. 12, 2010.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge and from noon until the funeral hour Sunday at the church.
