Cobb leaderboard has ‘Metropolitan’ flavor

Forty-nine-year-old Metropolis native John Riegger put some priceless experience to work in Sunday’s final round of the Pepsi/Super Valu Irvin Cobb Championship, also known as The Cobb, and ground out a two stroke win over a professional field which also included Metropolis native and defending Cobb champion, Lucas Cromeenes.

Coming off almost a year of rest and rehabilitation following knee surgery, Riegger withstood the heat, humidity and the pressure applied by his younger challengers to follow a first round 67, which was good for a second place tie, with a final round 66.
