At approximately 12:07 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, Metropolis Officers were called to the 1200 block of Ferry Street.
According to the police department, callers reported that somebody had been shot and needed an ambulance.
The responding officers located two victims, one male and one female, which were struck by shotgun pellets.
Metropolis Police Department reports the victims have been identified as Josh Carper, 34, and Angela Fike, 21, of rural Metropolis. As of Friday, their conditions were listed as non-critical.
Information released from the Metropolis Police Department indicates the preliminary information is the offender(s) were in a light colored van and had left the scene.
The injured were transported to Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah. Deputies from the Massac County Sheriff's Office assisted Metropolis Police Department.
Late in the afternoon on Friday Metropolis Police reported that four arrests had been made in connection with the shooting, earlier that morning, in the 1200 block of Ferry Street.
Arrested were: Troy Simelton, 31, of Metropolis for conspiracy to commit aggravated battery with a firearm and mob action; Jeremy Simelton, 28, of Metropolis for conspiracy to commit aggravated battery, mob action and obstructing justice; Katrina Hill, 32, of Cairo for conspiracy to commit aggravated battery, mob action and obstructing justice; and Brandy Williamson, 28, of Metropolis, for conspiracy to commit aggravated battery, mob action and obstructing justice.
According to Metropolis Police Chief Harry Masse, additional arrests and charges are anticipated as the investigation is still ongoing and as the Massac County State's Attorney Patrick Windhorst, reviews the case.
