Towler has previously pleaded guilty on charges that as licensee of the cemetery, he failed to make appropriate deposits in the pre-need cemetery trust fund, failed to maintain adequate records as required and failed to file an annual audit.
Other upcoming court proceedings include the trial for convicted sex offender Monty Englehart, who had previously been wanted on a 2008 Massac County arrest warrant for unlawful failure to notify an address change of a sex offender, in addition to warrants for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and four counts of child pornography.
The Metropolis Police Department and the Illinois State Police conducted the investigation which led to the 2008 charges. Englehart was featured on America's Most Wanted and was arrested in Wyoming in 2011.
Englehart's trial has been set for Monday, Oct. 15.
