What is considered by most the last holiday of summer, Labor Day activities are planned in the region, including family and friends making plans throughout Massac County.

Even though no activities are being planned at Fort Massac State Park this year, the annual Labor Day parade, sponsored by the Metropolis Lions Club, will delight residents of all ages, beginning at 10 a.m.

The parade will form at the courthouse and proceed down Fifth Street to Fort Massac. The street will be closed for the parade.

No pre-registration is required, and late entries will be accepted the morning of the parade.

No all-terrain vehicles (three- or four-wheelers) will be allowed in the parade, unless it is pulling a float.

All units for the parade should meet at the courthouse to be in position between 9-9:30 a.m.
