For the second week in a row, Mother Nature thumbed her nose at Friday night football.

Most every game in southern Illinois was suspended and resumed on Saturday due to a threatening storm front that moved through the area.

Massac County’s home game with Anna was moved up an hour and even had a shortened half-time, but it was all to no avail as the second half was postponed until Saturday. Anna-Jonesboro’s Wildcats rolled to a two-part 54-18 win over the home-standing Patriots.

Friday night’s installment ended as the second half was set to kick off when lightning was observed in the immediate area.

Anna had amassed a 34-12 lead that eventually proved to be plenty enough for the win.
