Iva Tubbs, 82, of Metropolis, formerly of Joppa, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.

Mrs. Tubbs retired from Laidlaw Corp. of Metropolis and was a member of Joppa Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Ricky Throgmorton and wife Phyllis of Metropolis; one granddaughter, Angela Simmons and husband Herb of Barlow, Ky.; two great-grandchildren, Ali Wright and Walker Simmons, both of Barlow; 2 stepgreat-grandchildren, Josh and Shelby Simmons, both of Barlow; one brother, George Lukens Jr. and wife Juanita of Metropolis; two nieces; and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nora Norman Lukens; her husband, Jimmie Tubbs; two sisters, Anna Lauderdale and Pauline Sutfin; one brother, Shelby Taylor; and two nieces.

Funeral service was held Sunday at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. David Wright officiating.

Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Herb Simmons, Andy Herron, Mike Stepter, Jamie Morse, Darron Searles and Sonny Summers.
